Having the New Zealand Warriors as part of the NRL is a great thing for the growth of rugby league. I hope the powers-that-be consider adding a 2nd New Zealand team when the time comes for the NRL to think about expansion.
If you support the New Zealand Warriors and you haven’t had a look at the Vodafone One Tribe site yet, do yourself a favour and check it out.
Lyrics
We share the same goal with a positive vibe
For the Vodafone Warriors – we are One Tribe
We give our support in a confident fashion
For the Vodafone Warriors – we have but One Passion
Together we strive on towards victory
For the Vodafone Warriors – we’re One Family
Keep the faith and the Vodafone Warriors win
Keep the faith let the celebrations begin
Keep the faith and soon we will see
One Tribe, One Passion, One Family
Lyrics
We share the same goal with a positive vibe
For the Vodafone Warriors – we are One Tribe
We give our support in a confident fashion
For the Vodafone Warriors – we have but One Passion
This video was due about 23 weeks ago, before round 4, when the New Zealand Warriors met the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Mount Smart Stadium. The clash was dedicated to the memory of Sonny Fai and there were several activities to mark the occasion at the ground. Unfortunately, for Warriors fans, the good guys were beaten by the bunnies and there wasn’t much to smile about from that point on for the 2009 season. I’ve finally finished all the videos for the 15 songs about the Warriors NRL opposition. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoy eating chocolate!
The Warriors played the Penrith Panthers a few weeks back in round 21. They led by 26 points before drawing 32 all by the end of extra time. I was a bit lazy putting the song together but I’ve finally finished it and made an accompanying video clip. It’s not easy to remain upbeat and motivated but I love the mighty New Zealand Warriors so I make myself push on through. I’m hoping the Kiwis can bond well in camp and give the Four Nations a shake later in the year. That will make up for the disappointment of the Warriors 2009 campaign, and build momentum for their 2010 effort. (more…)
The Warriors aren’t having the best of seasons, right? I have decided to soldier on and keep writing positive songs in an attempt to raise the morale of New Zealand Warriors fans. I don’t know what good it’s going to do but….at least it makes me feel better. I wrote this song before the Warriors went down to the Gold Coast Titans yesterday. I watched the game down at the pub at midday (Aussie time), and then walked down the road to watch my local Group 2 team thrash our neighbours 92 – 4. That pepped me up a bit.
The Warriors face a really tough challenge today….the mighty St George Illawarra Dragons are sitting on top of the NRL ladder and have been the team performing most consistently all season. Nathan Fien makes his return to Mount Smart Stadium dressed in red and white for the first time. I hope everything works out well for Nathan…..well, I hope he loses today but still manages to enjoy a long successful career! I have written a song about ‘flying lizards’ to commemorate todays battle between the awesome New Zealand Warriors and the Dragons. Watch the clip below (if you want to!).
There’s half an hour till kick off and here I am waiting for my Sydney Roosters song to finish uploading to YouTube so I can publish this post and get down to the pub to watch the game. I’m feeling pretty positive about the Warrior’s chances today, so that will mean one of two things….I will be absolutely over the moon if they win or….I’ll be terribly disappointed if they lose. The main thing is….I’m still keen to watch the mighty Warriors play!
This song was supposed to commemorate the triumphant return to form of the mighty Warriors but I’m afraid it wasn’t to be. I missed the game because I got my timezones mixed up. I thought it was 4pm Aussie time instead of Auckland time. In the end it’s probably best I missed it. It must have been heartbreaking to watch the Bulldogs score that last try. Anyway I hope you enjoy the song. Hopefully it will be more accurate when we play them again in a few weeks!
This is my latest song about the New Zealand Warrior’s opposition teams in the NRL. I uploaded this to YouTube on Thursday and luckily, for me, the mighty Warriors smashed the Newcastle Knights 13 to nil. Stacey Jones celebrated his 250th NRL appearance with a strong victory. Kevin Locke was really impressive again on the wing and I really like the look of Lewis Brown. He is really enthusiastic and worked tirelessly in atrocious conditions to help secure the Warrior’s win. (more…)
I’ve just come back from the pub after watching the Warriors get beaten by the Cronulla Sharks. The Warriors won the 2nd half 6 – 0 but that doesn’t mean much when you lose the 1st half 18 – 4. Something just isn’t clicking within the team at the moment and the most worrying thing today, for me, was the fact they could obtain good field position for lengthy periods without converting opportunities into points. I think Ivan Cleary is right when he says it’s a confidence issue but it’s hard to imagine why they are not confident.
Warrior dropped balls and poor defensive reads contributed to the Sharks jumping to an 18 – 0 lead. The Warriors got back on top late in the first half and well into the second, until dropped balls once again wrecked any chance of turning things around. Manu Vatuvei’s try was a beauty. The attack leading up to Stacey Jones’ kick looked a bit desperate though. The commentators had to comment on how much Manu has improved his handling. That never gets old, does it? (more…)
I posted this clip to YouTube yesterday morning. It’s a quirky little song I wrote and arranged a couple of days ago to celebrate (in advance) the Warrior’s annihilation of the Cronulla Sharks. Now I just hope it happens! Anyway, even if the Warriors lose (I’m sure they won’t) the clip will be relevant one day……and when that day arrives I will be a happy rugby league fan! (more…)
